Quality & Safety Manager – Part-time / Flexible Workdays (2–3 days per week)
An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Quality & Safety Manager to join us in a flexible, part?time capacity.
Reporting directly to the Accountable Manager, this senior role is key to ensuring regulatory compliance, operational safety, and the effective management of Aviat’s Quality and Safety Management Systems.
About the Role
As the Quality & Safety Manager, you will have end to end responsibility for overseeing the organisation’s independent Quality Management System (QMS) and Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with CASR Part 42 and Part 145 requirements.
You will work closely with senior leadership, customers, and regulators, providing trusted guidance on quality, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement while promoting a strong and positive safety culture.
Duties and responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the Quality and Safety Management Systems (QMS & SMS)
- Maintain direct accountability to, and keep informed, the Accountable Manager
- Issue, renew, and revoke maintenance certification authorisations
- Manage internal quality and safety audit programs and corrective actions
- Maintain reporting and investigation systems for defects, incidents, and maintenance errors
- Monitor safety performance, aviation hazards, and the organisational risk register
- Promote Just Culture, human factors principles, and proactive safety reporting
- Approve changes to the MOE and SOPs and manage regulatory submissions
- Liaise with customers, CASA, and other regulatory bodies on quality and safety matters
About You
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in aviation quality and safety roles
- Tertiary qualification in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering or a related field.
- Previous experience as a CASA Form 4 post holder (Quality and/or Safety) highly regarded.
- Strong working knowledge of CASR Part 42 & Part 145 regulations and MOS/AMC/GM
- Lead Auditor qualification preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing aviation Quality and Safety Management Systems
- Proven capability managing audits, investigations, and corrective/preventative actions
- Sound knowledge of human factors, risk assessment, and safety promotion
- Familiarity with aircraft maintenance environments and maintenance processes
- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with regulators and customers
